My name is Ariana, and I have been beading for about 10 years now. I mostly do flat stitch, but I enjoy other forms of beadwork as well. Beadwork came natrually to me through my native american heritage, although this type of art can be found all over the world. I personally love the way the colors look, and the feeling I get when I create amazing patterns with my bear hands. (pun intended)
I designed this bear paw by drawing it first for my paddle. Then with the help of a good friend, cleaned it up on a digital platform.
The Walking Bear Paw is inspired by the two choices I walk with everyday: to be angry, or to be grateful. With everystep, I do my best to make the right choice.
Beading with a needle and thread has been found recorded in my personal family history for 7 generations back. It is a true honor for me to be able to share this form of culture with people, while also supporting my daughters.
Teaching is one of the ways I like to share this art as well. There's something about the intricacy of sewing by hand that requires focus in a more soothing way. I started teaching a few years after my daughter was born to help generate a little more income, and to better myself as an artist. Check my event's page to see when I'll be hosting the next workshop!
I have two beautiful daughters who love art as much as I do. Being a single mother on top of being self employed is no easy task, but I absolutely love every second of it. Being a mother has taught me everything I know about being a teacher and artist. I want to say Thank you again to anyone who purchases my artwork and helps me support my family. <3
